Bailong ("we," "us," or "our"), based in Quebec, Canada, is committed to protecting your privacy in compliance with Quebec's Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (Law 25), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and international standards like the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for applicable users.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use Watchland (the "App").
1 Information We Collect
- Account Information: Username, email address
- Device Information: Device ID, OS version, device model, app version
- Install source (Android): Once, after the App is installed from Google Play, it sends which link or campaign led to the install (the Google Play install referrer) together with a random install ID created for that install only. It is used to count installs per campaign and is not linked to your account.
- Invites: If you share your invite link, it carries a random invite code (not your name or email). When someone installs Watchland from it and signs in, we record that their account joined with your code so both of you can receive free downloads, once per new account.
- IP addresses (network identifiers): When your device opens the App, it may contact our servers (for example watchland.app). We automatically receive the internet protocol (IP) address assigned by your network provider for that connection. We use it for security, abuse prevention, and operational diagnostics. If you are signed in, we may also store distinct IP addresses you have used in our Firebase Realtime Database under your account identifier (for example
users/<your user id>/ips/<IP>) so we can recognize unusual access patterns. We do not ask the App to paste your IP into the request body; it is observed from the server side of the connection.
- Website visits: When you browse watchland.ca, watchland.app, or related sites, our hosting and analytics partners (including Google AdSense / Google where applicable) may process IP addresses and similar technical data as described in their policies and cookie notices.
- User-Generated Content: Photos, text/comments, Watch Faces uploaded
- Usage Data: App interactions, via Google Analytics (Firebase) and similar tools where enabled
- Payment Data: Handled by app stores (not stored by us)
- Email lists: If you join a list on our websites (for example the AI Face Creator launch list at watchland.ca/ai-face-creator) or opt in to the newsletter in the App, we keep your email address, which list and page you joined from, and when you gave consent. Website lists send a confirmation email first, and you are added only after you confirm.
We do not collect sensitive data beyond what's necessary. IP addresses can be considered personal information in some jurisdictions; we limit use to the purposes above and apply retention practices consistent with the rest of this Policy.
2 How We Collect Information
- Directly from you (e.g., account creation, uploads)
- Automatically (e.g., device ID, analytics, and IP addresses when your app or browser establishes a network connection to our systems)
- From third parties (e.g., Firebase / Google for cloud services, authentication, and analytics)
3 How We Use Information
- To provide App features (e.g., hosting UGC)
- For analytics and improvements (Google Analytics / Firebase)
- To send the emails you asked for: a list's confirmation email, the launch announcement or newsletter, and occasional related updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link
- To comply with legal obligations
- For security, fraud prevention, and detecting misuse (including using IP and related connection metadata)
Law 25 Compliance: We conduct privacy impact assessments for data processing and appoint a Privacy Officer (support@watchland.app).
4 Sharing Information
We share data with:
- Firebase (Google) for cloud storage and authentication
- Google Analytics for usage insights
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France) to store email-list addresses and send those emails
- Service providers under strict contracts
- As required by law or to respond to legal processes
Important: We do not sell your data. For international transfers (e.g., to U.S. servers), we ensure adequacy under GDPR/Law 25 via standard contractual clauses.
In a grey area for data minimization, we anonymize device IDs where possible, reducing identifiability without fully pseudonymizing, which may lower risks under privacy audits.
5 Your Rights (Law 25/GDPR Compliant)
You have the right to:
- Access, rectify, or delete your data
- Withdraw consent (where applicable)
- Object to processing
- Data portability
Exercise rights via in-app deletion or by contacting support@watchland.app. We respond within 30 days (extendable under Law 25). Account deletion removes all associated data.
6 Data Retention
We retain data as long as your account is active, or as needed for legal purposes (e.g., 7 years for tax records). Deleted data is purged within 30 days.
Email-list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them (support@watchland.app); unconfirmed sign-ups are not added to any list.
7 Security
We use encryption, firewalls, and access controls. However, no system is infallible.
8 Children's Privacy
The App is for 18+ users only. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
9 Cookies and Tracking
We use analytics trackers. You can opt-out via device settings.
10 Changes to Policy
We may update this Policy. Changes are posted in the App.
